Production area
Castelvecchio is a part of the Karst (Carso) area in the province of Gorizia (Sagrado city). The landscape is typical of the Karst region: arid and rocky soil with a reduced stratum of red sand, but rich in iron and lime-stone. The area is constantly ventilated and influenced by the near sea.
Grapes
100% Terrano.
Historical background
The Terrano grape is part of the Refosco family (Refosco d’Istria). Known since Roman times with the name of Puciunm, Terrano is considered a wine that is good for your health not just for its resveratrol, but also for its iron content whose assimilation by the body is favored by the acid component of the wine itself.
Harvesting and vinification
Light pressing of the grapes and slow fermentation at a controlled temperature; subsequent fermentation with the charmat method for about 6 months. A further refinement of 2 months after bottling makes this Brut Rosè even more refined and elegant.
