RED WINES

The company has long been reknowned for the quality of its red wines: from its Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon to its Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Terrano. This grape was already known at the time of the ancient Romans with the name of Pucinum.

Terrano

Our Terrano red wine stands out for the exuberance of its acidity, for the wild fragrances of raspberry and blackberry and for the typical intense ruby red color with purple edges that confirm its high organoleptic qualities given by the presence of very high units of antiradical, anti-aging, polyphenols, antioxidants and antivirals. The limited tannic content and moderate alcohol content make it a medium-bodied wine ideal with charcuterie and typical Karst dishes. When this wine is drunk chilled and before aging, it will go very well with fatty fish, especially with eel.

Refosco dal peduncolo rosso

Our Refosco di Castelvecchio has a very deep ruby red color, with an ethereal, slightly vinous and full of character. It is produced from an ancient Friulian grape variety. The flavor is dry, full, full-bodied and slightly bitter. It is a clumsy wine that, like the ugly duckling, turns into a swan after three years of barrique and bottle aging. Roasts and game were particularly enhanced by this wine which also goes well with other robust dishes typical of the Friulian cuisine.

Cabernet Franc

The characteristic herbaceous note of this high-class red wine fades with aging towards ethereal and composite tones. The initial bright ruby red color dissolves into aristocratic almost silky reflections. The perfume maintains the herbaceous fragrance even in the maturation process which takes place first in wood and then in the bottle. The generous, soft and velvety flavor is maliciously captivating. It goes well with roasted white meats and feathered game.

Cabernet Sauvignon

It is the most structured and important wine produced at Castelvecchio and comes from the last grapes to be harvested in the season in mid to late October. Ruby red in color, this wine has an intense and harmonious aroma rich of thousands of variations that evolve with aging. The flavor is full, elegant and full-bodied. It is a complement of choice for meats, roasts or game of high cuisine.
